Economic policy
The aim of economic policy is to consistently improve the population’s quality of life by ensuring secure employment, growing incomes and the fair distribution of income, whilst at the same time considering appropriate social and environmental standards. In this context the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth (BMWFJ) primarily deals with questions of structural policy, ensuring the conditions to allow Austrian companies to be competitive in the long term.
The Ministry’s current focus areas are:
- business location policy,
- economic growth policy,
- competition policy at the Austrian and European level.
Business location policy involves defining positions and measures to improve Austria’s international competitiveness, particularly for business start-ups. The results of this policy are closely connected with the implementation of the stimulus package, specifically where financial support from austria wirtschaftsservice (aws) is concerned. Competition policy creates the necessary market parameters for all other policies.
